Intuthuko Nutritional Garden

“Intuthuko” is an Ndebele word meaning progress or development, and it was the word chosen by the first participants in this self-help project. They are all displaced families – many of them destitute - living in the area. Each family accepted under the scheme is provided with a small plot of land fed by drip irrigation, a few essential garden tools and starter packs of seed, and given some basic training in horticulture.

ZVSF has provided the funding for Phase 1 of the project, including the provision of a pump for the bore hole, the installation of solar panels to run the pump, and laying out the drip irrigation for the site.
